- nano-structured systems, interfaces, quantum impurities
- quantum phase transitions, non-Fermi liquids and exotic ground states in quantum matter
- unconventional superconductivity and magnetism
- numerical methods & techniques: quantum Monte Carlo, self-consistent methods, RG techniques, numerical renormalization group, dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) and its extensions
